Great Bear Rainforest
The Great Bear Rainforest has a quarter of the remaining temperate rainforest in the world and is a truly special place whose biomass surpasses that of even the world’s tropical rainforest. It is home to Coastal Wolves, Sitka Deer, Bald Eagles, Grizzlies, Black Bear and the rare Spirit Bear. The marine environment hosts Humpback Whales, Orcas, Steller Sea Lions, Dall’s Porpoises and Harbour Seals. In the Fall Wild Pacific Salmon flood the river systems in huge numbers and provide the link between land and ocean, infusing nutrients into the forest and providing food for a variety of creatures. This is also the traditional area of the First Nations and these trips will allow a true cultural experience adding depth to every adventure.
The “Broughton Archipelago” forms the buffer between the rough open waters of the Queen Charlotte Sound and the narrow convoluted waterways of the inner Inside Passage. At its western edge, rugged little islands with unusual names such as White Cliff and Fog Islets take the rough weather blowing in from the north-west. Deep surge channels, steep cliffs and stunted trees are common features. Further east larger islands offer protected anchorages for the many yachts that cruise these waters but still offering an “edge of the wild” experience. The archipelago offers an exceptionally rich marine environment.
The Pacific Yellowfin is a magnificent vessel that will allow guests to explore these areas by a variety of modes providing a true multi adventure and giving the guests an intimate experience of a lifetime.
This seven night multi adventure yacht trip through the Great Bear Rainforest will focus on the astounding wildlife in the area in September.
